CDT3 Honour Roll

Each of the 8 teams was made up of 6 Clearance Divers - volunteers all.

A total of 49 Clearance Divers served ashore in Vietnam as members of CDT3.

                       

The team structure comprised:-

OIC    -     Lieutenant

2 IC    -    Chief Petty Officer (US equivalent - E8) and/or a senior  Petty Officer (E7)

            -    the remaining  sailors were a mix of Able Seamen (E4/5) and Leading Seamen (E5/6)

1st Team:- 5th Feb '67 - 29th Aug '67

* it is of interest to note that the 6 members of this 8th Team went on to provide a

combined service of over 135 years to the CD Branch and the RAN. Each served a minimum of

20 years in the RAN, providing the Branch with 1 Commander, 3 Warrant Officers & 2 Chiefs.

A  very disappointed 9th Team completed their workup but failed to deploy due to the Australian Government's decision to  withdraw all military forces from South Vietnam.
